Tapestry Weaving with Kirsten Milliken

£60.00

Saturday 27th June 11am-3:30pm

Learn to weave with textile artist Kirsten Milliken to create your own mini tapestry. Kirsten will teach the basic weaving techniques from warping up the loom, to creating patterns and shapes, working with colour and texture, right through to cutting off and finishing your piece.

At the end of this workshop you will have made a mini tapestry to take home and display or give as a gift as well as the mini wooden frame loom itself which you can reuse again and again. You will also have gained the skills, knowledge and confidence to continue weaving larger projects at home.

All tools and materials are provided. You can bring your own yarn too if you want to add it to your piece. Suitable for complete beginners, no prior experience of weaving or textile crafts is needed. Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Kirsten Milliken is a craftsperson and storyteller based in Edinburgh. She has been working with wool and other natural materials since childhood and regularly teaches different textile arts and heritage crafts for people of all ages. Find out more about Kirsten at www.kirstenmilliken.co.uk
