Burnfoot Farm Tour and Fibre Processing at Creation Mill

Travel from Langholm up to Burnfoot Farm nestled in the stunning Ewes Valley where you will be greeted by Andrew and Gillian Elliot who manage a 3,000 acre hill farm, where they care for a flock of 1,500 South Country Cheviot crossed with New Zealand Romney Breed.

Andrew will take you on a journey through this ancient land to witness the hefted sheep and explain the farming techniques used in caring for his flock while offering tales of the history and connection to the land and stories of people and place. Throughout the changing seasons, you will witness all the joys of a working farm.

Additionally, Gillian will explain how her blankets are processed using their own wool. You will also be provided with a sample piece of wool to use in the fibre processing back at Creation Mill, where Emma will guide you through each of the processes towards creating your own bespoke creation.

9.45am - meet at Creation Mill, Buccleuch Mill, Glenesk Road, DG13 0ES. Please arrive on time for a prompt departure.

10am - leave for Burnfoot Farm

approx 10:15am - arrive at Burnfoot Farm

approx 12:15 - depart Burnfoot Farm

approx 12:30 - Arrive back and Creation Mill for lunch

1pm - Fibre processing workshop at Creation Mill

approx 3pm - Workshop finishes
