Join us at Tangled Galashiels

We are very excited to announce that we are going to be a Vendor at this year's Tangled Galashiels Fibre Festival hosted by Unwind Yarns and Eildon Hills Designs and tickets go on sale on the 28th of February!

We will be taking along a selection of  textile bundles from our Scrap Store as well as our DIY craft kits. We will also be bringing some beautiful products from local producers to celebrate the talent and craftsmanship we have locally to Langholm. The Creation Mill team will be on hand to chat about our work and the rich textiles history we have in Langholm and the wider region. We will be demonstrating some of the traditional skills we are passionate about sharing and keeping alive.

Tangled Galashiels will be hosted at the Volunteer Hall on Friday the 2nd and Saturday the 3rd of June and we would love to see you there! It is set to be a weekend full of community led celebrations and showcases of all things textiles in the Scottish Borders.

As well as supporting local organisations and coming away with some yarn for the craft stash, this event will be a great opportunity to visit a Borders town with plenty to celebrate. Voted last year as the happiest place to live in Scotland it is set amongst some pretty stunning countryside making the 1 hour trip up the A7 from Langholm an absolute pleasure.

Once in Galashiels there is plenty of accessible parking and the town has so much to offer so why not make a weekend of it! At Creation Mill we are keen to support fellow organisations working to make their local communities a better place to be as well as producing high quality goods and services. Here are a few of our recommendations worth checking out in Galashiels.

Cafe ReCharge CIC - like us, is a Social Enterprise passionate about promoting a more circular economy and wasting less! Cafe Recharge is able to offer affordable and delicious food by making use of surplus stock from local supermarkets that would have otherwise been wasted. This fantastic organisation relies on the support of volunteers and the incoming of new stock so keep an eye on their social media for opening times and menus.

Creative Borders - If you still have a taste for all things arts and crafts then you need to pay a visit to the Reborn Cafe Creative Borders on the High Street. This creative hub offers a place for local Artists to show and sell their work as well as a relaxed place to sit and enjoy tea and cake. The cafe also regularly hosts crafty workshops so have a look on their website to see what’s on.

Hike & Bike Hub - is an exciting new Social Enterprise in the town that aims to promote walking and cycling in the surrounding areas. They offer guided walks and cycles as well as easy to follow self guided routes and cycle hire. With the Tangled Festival being the first weekend in June we are hoping for sunshine so if you fancy tying some exercise into your weekend and getting out and about head to their website or social media page to find out what’s on.

This is just a small selection of what’s available in Galashiels. To find out everything you need to know, visit The Galashiels Heartland Of The Borders website which provides a comprehensive guide to enjoying this culturally rich creative town.

Tickets to Tangled Galashiels are available on their website and more information about stall holders, workshops and the weekend itself will be coming out over the next few weeks.
